HAVING
TROUBLE OPENING JARS THESE DAYS? |
Long
before we reach senior status, changes begin to affect the function
of our hands, fingers, arms, and upper body. Muscle weakness and
joint disorders can lead to severe discomfort, as well as embarrassment,
frustration and loss of independence. We all know someone that can
no longer open a jar without help, but it can get much worse. Think
of all the things we do with our arms and hands that we simply take
for granted. In most cases, conditions worsen with age as we allow
inactivity to creep into our lives. Getting older is good, but comes
with it’s own set of problems - specifically how do we keep
our bodies feeling young throughout the “golden years”?
Experts know there are answers to this question.
It’s a fact that our muscles can deteriorate as we get older.
Researchers estimate that we lose 15% of our body strength each
decade between the ages 50 and 70 – and this rate of deterioration
doubles once we reach the age of 70. Worse yet, about 85% of the
current senior population suffers from osteoarthritis of the joints
in our arms, hands and fingers. Clearly, the statistics appear to
be stacked against us. If nothing is done, our freedom to live independently
is at risk and our lifestyles will be compromised. Unfortunately,
too many of us believe that getting weaker and stiffer is just part
of getting older.
This is wrong! Studies have proven again and again that this is
just not true. Regular exercise, especially with our arms and hands,
can help us remain healthier, stronger and more independent. Even
moderate stretching and strength-building exercises can provide
significant benefits for men and women of all ages. With proper
attention, our hands, fingers, arms and upper body can remain strong
and agile for an entire lifetime.
Jemarkel Health-Tech, a Valparaiso company, has recently introduced
the Wristiciser® to the general public. For the healthcare professionals,
the Wristiciser has proven to be the ultimate exercise device for
maintaining upper extremity strength at any age. It’s an all-in-one,
easy-to-use and take-anywhere product that can be used to perform
over 50 exercises that the professionals prescribe in their practices.
The Wristiciser comes with a forty-page full color instruction manual.
Not only is it an effective way to keep our arms healthy and strong,
it’s also fun to use.
So, if we are stiffening up, losing our grip, or just finding the
simple things in life more difficult to do with our arms, hands
and fingers, its time we grip a new world of fitness through the
Wristiciser. In a matter of a few short weeks of regular use, we’ll
start to feel like our old - or should we say new selves again –
ready to open any jar. The Wristiciser is the professional’s
choice in fixing upper extremity strength and flexibility problems.
Shouldn’t it be ours? |
